CEAS Freshmen receive Beach Towels at College Day

Students in the class of 2015 received high quality beach towels as part of their introduction to the college on September 21.

The day began with morning orientation sessions in Zimmer Auditorium and 544 Rhodes Hall for the 752 freshmen (636 engineering and 116 technology majors) enrolled in CEAS programs. Following a class picture at noon at the Sigma Sigma Commons amphitheater, the freshmen were treated to a grill-out sponsored and hosted by upper-class colleagues from various student organizations.

As freshmen exited the food line, students and administrators, including Dean Carlo Montemagno, presented the college’s newest members with a 40” by 70” beach towel imprinted with the CEAS Analemma as a visible reminder of the long history of accomplishment of engineering and technology education of CEAS. Dean Montemagno introduced the beach towel gift as a tradition to be carried forward by the class of 2015 who will design next year’s towel for the class of 2016.

College Day is organized by the Freshmen Education Leadership Development (FELD) Program of the Engineering and Applied Science Tribunal working closely with the CEAS Freshman Dean’s Office. Freshman Dean Joe Nevin commented, “I am very pleased with the morning information sessions and really appreciate the work of FELD in making this such a nice event for incoming students.”
