Dr. San-Mou Jeng, PhD

Professor of Aerospace Engineering & Engineering Mechanics

Email: san-mou.jeng@uc.edu

Research Interests

Dr. Jeng has over 30 years of experience in gas turbine combustion related research. Over the past 25 years, the main focus of his research has been spray combustion, flame stability and emissions from gas turbine combustors. These works have been funded by General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, NASA, Department of Energy and the Air Force Office of scientific Research.

Dr. Jeng established the UC Fire Test Center which provides engineering and FAA certification service in engine fire tests and where the next-generation burner for future FAA fire protection standards has been developed

Dr. Jong Guen Lee

Ohio Research Scholar
Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering & Engineering Mechanics

Email: jongguen.lee@uc.edu

Research Interests

Dr. Lee’s research focuses on combustion and propulsion problems in air-breathing and rocket propulsion systems. He has many years of experience in combustion dynamics in gas turbine, ramjet and augmentor, development of various laser-based optical diagnostic techniques with applications to propulsion systems, combustion control and sensors monitoring the combustion process, turbulent flame propagations and multi-phase combustion processes.

He has been collaborating with many major gas turbine/aircraft companies such as GE Aviation, GE Energy, Pratt and Whitney, Siemens-Westinghouse, Solar Turbines as well as the NASA-GRC and DOE NETL (Natural Energy Technology Laboratory, Morgantown, West Virginia) in those areas. His research interests also include supersonic combustion, plasma-aided combustion, solid-propellants and combustion of alternative fuels.
