Suna and Osman Polat Graduate Fellowship

A Partnership between the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati and the Faculty of Engineering at the Middle East Technical University

This Fall 2015 fellowship offers an exciting opportunity for a graduate student from one of the engineering departments at Middle East Technical University to study in the United States at the University of Cincinnati.  The successful candidate will be awarded a full tuition scholarship and a stipend of $22,100 to study for one year in either a Masters of Science or Doctoral degree program from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Science.

This student will work in one of the top research laboratories in the world and, if performance merits, will likely receive ongoing support to pursue a PhD degree from the University of Cincinnati.

Admission Criteria
  • Essay – Minimum of 500 words, addressing applicant's career aspirations and goals and request to be considered for the Suna and Osman Polat Graduate Fellowship, emailed to julie.muenchen@uc.edu

  • Transcripts – Official transcript from every university attended for undergraduate and graduate coursework

  • Application Fee – The application fee must be paid on-line at the time of the application with a credit or debit card. $75.00 for domestic students and $80.00 for international students.

  • Letters of Recommendation – Two letters of recommendation are required, preferably from METU faculty members. It is optional to submit more than two. All letters submitted will be reviewed.

  • Official Standardized Test Scores

    • GRE – Required of all applicants and must be submitted electronically to UC. A photocopy of your scores should be sent with your application materials. The average GRE score (old version) accepted is 1250. The average scores accepted for the new GRE test are: 155 Quantitative, 155 Verbal and 3.0 Analytical. The University code for GRE is 1833, a department code is not required.     • TOEFL – Required of all applicants and must be submitted electronically to UC. A photocopy of your scores should be sent with your application materials. This is a requirement for all applicants whose native language is not English – including those with F-1 visas and green cards. The TOEFL requirement may be waived for applicants with degrees (Bachelors or MS) earned in English from accredited universities and colleges in the U.S., Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand. The minimum TOEFL score accepted, Internet based, is 92. The university code for TOEFL is 1833, a department code is not required.
