P&G SMRF Grant

P&G SMRF Grant at UC

Student Materials Research Funding

Summary

The P&G SMRF is a proposed pilot program jointly funded by Materials Science & Technology (MS&T at http://www.lanl.gov/mst/) and C&D Technologies (http://www.cdtechno.com/) to provide a six month fellowship to support a UC science/engineering graduate student (or 1 undergraduate student for 1 semester) to work on a materials research project.  Students at any level (undergraduate through graduate) may submit an abstract with a letter of support from an advisor.  The output of the work will be proof of concept data to support submission of a larger funding request, for example, a joint proposal between UC and P&G to government agencies.

Goals
  • Grow and strengthen the relationship between P&G and UC, focused on Materials Science and Engineering
  • Give students grant writing experience
  • Provide opportunity for regular interaction/meetings between faculty, student, and P&G technical advisors
  • Develop seed ideas for larger collaborations between UC and P&G
  • Builds recruiting pipeline for P&G at UC
