Vikram Kapoor, a Ph.D. student in Environmental Engineering, and David Wendell, Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering, developed a solar-based nanofilter capable of capturing antibiotics in surface waters.
Jarod Gregory is a junior in the ACCEND program, in which he is working towards a B.S. in chemical engineering and M.S. environmental engineering. Jarod has earned experience in the field of environmental engineering a coop student at Duke Energy working on testing coal additives’ effectiveness in mercury mitigation and the effects on groundwater, collaborating with subject matter experts in flue gas desulfurization and selective catalytic reduction systems as well as analytical engineers to explore the potential root causes of mercury re-emission, and assisting in inspections of environmental components of power plants.
Dr. Lu has partnered with Cincinnati’s Metropolitan Sewer District as she and her research group work to not only eliminate one of their greatest problems, but to turn it into useful biodiesel.
