The EECS Cyber Operations program is intended to be a deeply technical, interdisciplinary, higher education program firmly grounded in the computer science (CS), computer engineering (CE), and electrical engineering (EE) disciplines, with extensive opportunities for hands-on applications via labs/exercises. Our CE faculty are experts in embedded systems, microsystem system, and computer architecture, all of which include hands-on training. CS faculty take care of Algorithms, Math Logic, Cloud Computing, Wireless and Mobile Networks, Data and Data Security, Computer Networking, and Operating Systems.
There is a basic, mandatory component of the program that covers security and safety principles, some of which are applicable to all operational and system levels, and some are foundational to building specific secure systems; also, there are specialized, optional components from which a student can choose to concentrate on one or two specific aspects of cyber operations. Required co-op or professional practice experiences add value to both student and companies.
Upon completion of the program the student will receive, in addition to their doctoral or master’s degree, a graduate certificate of proficiency in cyber operations in recognition of having acquired these important skills. Award of this certificate will be stated on the student's transcript.
