Developing theranostic (therapeutic + diagnostic) colloidal delivery systems.
Dr. Park has studied colloidal contrast agents for medical imaging, and drug delivery systems, or a combination of the two to enhance delivery efficiency and to image while treating a target of interest. She used a micro blood vessel model on-a-chip to examine anti-angiogenic effect of my biomedical colloid systems. Since ultrasound contrast agents, microbubbles, respond to ultrasound waves, Dr. Park found that drug delivery was facilitated by ultrasound in the presence of microbubbles, by direct observation of blood vessel cells.
Park would like to continue her research area by developing novel and effective drug/gene delivery systems, assisted with medical devices, such as ultrasound, MRI, or laser.
