Women in Engineering & Applied Science Summer Camp
Week of July 17-21, 2017
Survey the World of Engineering!
This one-week day camp will allow you to develop your creativity as well as provide you with the opportunity to meet and speak with working engineers. For part of the camp, you will work on campus with different engineering departments, learning and completing hands-on projects to better understand the breadth and variety of different engineering fields. For the remainder of the camp, you will visit various corporate engineering plants such as General Electric, Procter & Gamble, and Northrop Grumman Xetron to meet professional engineers and see their work in action. Throughout the week, you will also take part in teamwork activities, group projects and sessions to learn about college preparation, approaches to teamwork, professional development, and meet UC Engineering and Applied Science students! On campus housing options available if you are traveling long distance. Camps run Monday through Friday, 9 AM-4 PM, concluding Friday with a goodbye banquet with parents.
APPLICATIONS OPEN JANUARY 25 at 8 AM and close FEBRUARY 17 at 5 PM. Limited spots available!
Summer Camp Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (Parent luncheon begins at 11:45 a.m.)
Must be a female entering high school in Fall 2017. Thirty-five students will be selected from the application process and must have a complete application by February 17, 2017 to meet the priority deadline.
A fee of $250.00 per student is required. Lunch each day, camp materials, transportation to and from field trips, and a luncheon at the Faculty Club (with two additional guests) on Friday afternoon will be provided.
The application for the Men in Engineering & Applied Science 2017 Camp will go live on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 8 AM and applications must be complete by February 17, 2017 at 5 PM to be considered for priority admission. Students will be notified by March 2017 of their status regarding acceptance in to the program. Due to the popularity of the program, admission will be competitive and based on all components of the application. A complete application includes the online form and a letter of recommendation. This letter must come from a teacher, counselor, or other non-family member who can speak to your interests, abilities, and motivation for considering or potentially pursuing engineering. It should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by the recommender and must be received by February 17, 2017 at 5 PM.
