Beginning this fall, the UC CEAS Wood Technology Program is offering woodworking courses to all faculty and staff. From courses on how to set-up and maintain woodworking machinery to wood finishing and furniture drawing, the Wood Technology Program plans to leave no wood interest un-carved.
Courses are to be held in the Wood Technology Program location on UC’s Victory Parkway campus. These courses are suited for individuals seeking to learn the time-honored skills of furniture making, crafts and woodworking fundamentals. Courses will cover a wide range of woodworking specialties including: Furniture Construction, Furniture Drawing, Wood Technology, Wood Crafts, Wood Turning, Wood Carving, and Windsor Chair creation. Certificate options will also be available for those interested.
Experienced and knowledgeable instructors are teaching the courses. The Wood Technology Program will provide all the necessary hand tools and power equipment to complete the projects assigned with the exception of small carving knives for its carving class students. Each course charges a fee and students must pay for wood needed for assigned projects. The wood will be available for students to purchase in the Wood Shop, also located on the Victory Parkway campus.
