Sensors Laboratory

Chemical Sensors and Biosensors

Chemical sensors and biosensors for environmental, industrial and biomedical applications are being developed. Projects include sensors for bacteria and viruses in finished water, trace metals in biological samples and natural water, inorganic pollutants such as nitrate in natural water, hydrogen and magnesium for development of improved biomaterials, and components of nuclear fuel and waste. Some of this work involves collaborations with the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and a corporate partner in Ohio.
