Prashant Khare earned his Ph.D. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2014. Following two years as a Research Fellow at Georgia Tech, he joined the University of Cincinnati (UC) in January 2017 as an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering.  
 
Teaching.  Khare teaches undergraduate courses in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and gas dynamics.  He was also selected as an invited lecturer at Oxford University as a part of Georgia Tech’s study abroad program in 2016.
 
Research.  Khare’s research focuses on multiphase flows, non-reacting and reacting fluid dynamics, combustion systems, data analytics and high-performance computing relevant to energy, propulsion, and environmental applications.  He addresses the fundamental physics (and chemistry) underlying various physical processes by conducting massively parallel high-fidelity numerical simulations (direct numerical simulations (DNS)/large eddy simulation (LES)) and develops physics-based models using theoretical analyses combined with big-data analytics, which are leveraged for accurate and efficient engineering design and analysis.
 
Khare received the William R. Marshall award from the Institute of Atomization and Spray Systems, for establishing the first generalized theory governing the deformation and fragmentation of liquid droplets.  He was also awarded with the best presentation and the best video awards by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the 42nd Dayton-Cincinnati Aerospace Sciences Symposium.  Khare will be a keynote speaker at the 5th International Conference and Exhibition on Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering later this year in Las Vegas.
 
Service.  Khare is a senior member of AIAA, and member of ASME, and the Combustion Institute, and a lifetime member of the Institute of Atomization and Spray Systems. Khare serves as a member of the AIAA distinguished mentorship program, and gives talks to high school students to expose and inspire them to pursue STEM fields for their careers.
