The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) awarded the UC College of Engineering and Applied Science its highest honor in the ASEE Diversity Recognition Program. The college was lauded as a national leader among engineering programs for significant progress in increasing diversity, inclusion, and degree attainment outcomes. ASEE bronze status is valid from 2022-2024.
IECE has received this award for three years.
The College of Engineering and Applied Science's Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement office received the 2021 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Inspiring Programs in STEM Award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Students from across the country attend UC Engineering summer camps! Camps in CEAS are a great way to learn about the different types of engineering! Camps offer a variety of field trips, lab tours, hands-on activities, and engineering design challenges!
Applications for camp are currently slated to open in early February. GE Camps are free for those living in Cincinnati and its surrounding counties. Young Engineers will cost $125, Rising Engineers will cost $125 Day Camp/$525 overnight, and CEAS Camps will cost $250 Day Camp/$650 overnight. Extremely limited scholarship funds are available and those interested will need to complete a separate scholarship application after acceptance.

Being an engineer is just as much about creativity as it is about academic prowess. Through a series of hands-on lessons that encourage team work and collaborative learning, students work together to create a piece of functional furniture only using cardboard. Students will also get a view of the campus and will learn about what it’s like to work at GE Aerospace thanks to support from volunteers that visit and mentor every day.

Students will also get a view of the campus and will learn about what it’s like to work at GE Aerospace thanks to support from volunteers that visit and mentor every day.

Thinking about pursuing Engineering? This “sampler platter” style camp is perfect for students who are interested in STEM careers but want to find out more. A broad range of engineering disciplines will be studied with hands-on activities with both UC students and professors. Tour the campus, have fun with campus organizations, and get an idea of what your future can hold as a Bearcat! Priority given to students who are new to the CEAS Summer Camp Experience. Day camp: $125 (no overnight option available)

Similar to the Young Engineers camp, this program is also “sampler platter” style but with elevated content for older students. Take part in cooperative learning opportunities in Biomedical, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, and Computer Engineering activities. Meet with professors and students from all Engineering departments, get a taste of what it’s like to work on co-op, and get real-world advice on how to prepare for an astounding and unforgettable experience as a CEAS student. Priority given to students who are new to the CEAS Summer Camp Experience. Day camp: $125, Residential: $525 (includes all meals, boarding, and after-camp entertainment)

Four tracks: Biomedical/Chemical Engineering, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Civil/Architectural Engineering & Construction Management, Electrical/Computer Engineering
You’ve done the research, attended the camps, now get ready to work as a junior engineer! This camp is designed for students who are confident in their intended major declaration and want to start working on building skills and knowledge prior to their college applications. Students will choose one of four tracks for engaging, small group instruction focused on two or three specific engineering fields. Get an in-depth view of new research, tour specialty facilities, meet with members from campus specialty-interest organizations, and most importantly, have fun and make friends! Previous CEAS Summer Campers encouraged to apply. Day camp: $250, Residential: $650 (includes all meals, boarding, and after-camp entertainment)
UC’s Robotics competition is hosted by the College of Engineering and Applied Science – IECE. Students compete with their team. While preparing for the competition, students are encouraged to explore Robotics, Engineering, Science and Technology. Our competition seeks to test your team’s creativity in design, programming, robot construction, and presentation skills.
Over the course of three years, high school students from 10th to 12th grade learn to think and act like engineers and prepare to advance to post-secondary education. Next Engineers Academy Applications are open now until November 27th!
These programs are available to undergraduate and graduate students.
The Women in Engineering program aims to serve and work with students from the high school level, all the way to graduate school. Our programming helps students to find community and resources through other women in STEM. Women in Engineering is open to everyone.
The E3 Program is a comprehensive, nationally respected program seeking to retain historically excluded students in the College of Engineering and Applied Science while helping students achieve excellence in college and beyond.

Five television stations from across Greater Cincinnati featured segments on UC's Decision Day 2024. Thousands of high school students from across the region learned they were admitted to the University of Cincinnati for Fall 2024. Applications to UC approached nearly 33,000, a 7% increase over last year.

Decision Day is when the newest Bearcats learn they’ve been accepted into the University of Cincinnati. This year UC surprised six students from four Greater Cincinnati high schools in person with admission, scholarships and celebrations.
