Why study Networking?
Networking is a certificate for professionals who already hold a bachelor's degree that will provide students with the skills to become proficient in the areas of computer networking, systems administration and information security. Students will learn both the theoretical underpinnings of the topics and also an extensive set of hands-on abilities to design, implement, secure, and manage computing resources for an organization.
Admission Requirements
This program is open to students holding a baccalaureate degree with a cumulative university grade point average of 2.0 and the desire to succeed. Although admission is open, students accepted into the program must meet the academic standards of the program to advance to upper levels of study. Interested students should meet with a UC College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services Student Services staff member for appropriate advising. Please note: In order to obtain this certificate, 100 percent of the required coursework must be taken from the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services. The courses required for this certificate are part of the bachelor's degree in information technology offered at the University of Cincinnati. The courses are applied in nature and students will not only learn theoretical concepts but also hands-on computing skills. Feel free to contact the IT department head for details on the current specific technologies being taught in the courses.
Application Deadlines
Application deadlines are as follows: fall semester - July 1; spring semester - November 1; summer semester - March 1.
