Why study University Honors Scholar?
University Honors is committed to helping students maximize their educational opportunities at UC while discovering and pursuing their passions in life and using their gifts and talents to make meaningful contributions to society.
The University Honors Program comprises the top 7% of University of Cincinnati undergraduate students and offers an engaging environment in which students are inspired to experience more and learn more. Students are challenged through honors seminars and experiential learning projects that focus on:
- Community engagement
- Creativity
- Global studies
- Leadership
- Research
Admission Requirements
All first-time freshmen who have been apply to a baccalaureate college at UC are considered for admission to the University Honors Program (UHP). In order to be considered, the university must receive all completed all sections of the Common Application and additional documents for admission by December 1st. Students do not submit a separate application for the University Honors Program.
Admission to the University Honors Program is very competitive. Students invited to participate typically have:
- an ACT composite score of 32 or higher; the middle 50% range of ACT (or SAT equivalent) is 32-34.
- an SAT composite score of 1400 or higher (critical reading and math combined)
- an unweighted high school GPA of 3.6 or higher or a weighted high school GPA of 3.8 or higher.
- Outstanding personal statement and essays in the UC application for admission that demonstrate particular skill in reflection
- Strong combination of co-curricular activities, unique experiences, awards and achievements or work history
Note that meeting the above academic parameters does not guarantee admission.
University Honors students are assigned to an honors advisor by college or, in the case of the College of Engineering and Applied Science and the College of Arts and Sciences, by major. Students can see their advisor by using Starfish to make appointments or utilize walk-in hours.
