Dr. Steckl Develops NSF-Funded POC Blood Coagulation Test

With funding from the National Science Foundation, University of Cincinnati Professor Dr. Andrew J. Steckl (College of Engineering and Applied Science, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing Systems) and his students as well as colleagues in the UC College of Pharmacy (Drs. Pauletti and Hegener) have developed a quick and painless blood screening device, similar to those used for diabetes, that employs a nano-fiber based test strip to carefully monitor a patient’s blood coagulation levels from the comfort of their own home.
