Summer Camps

Tangeman University Center
Jumpstart your College Career!

The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) offers unique summer camp experiences, perfect for high school students who are interested in pursuing careers in STEM.

CEAS Undergraduate Enrollment Office's two annual summer camp opportunities:

These one-week day camps allows rising 10th through 12th grade males and rising 9th through 12th grade females to develop creativity skills and will provide the opportunity to meet and speak with working engineers and current engineering students at the University. Students will spend time with different engineering departments on campus and will also visit various corporate engineering plants, such as GE Aviation, Duke Energy, Northrop Grumman Xetron, and Procter & Gamble, to meet professional engineers. These experiences will allow students to learn about the breadth and variety of engineering fields and complete hands-on projects to better understand engineering concepts and teamwork. Question and answer sessions will allow students to gather advice from current engineering professionals who are the innovative designers and problem solvers of today’s society.  Throughout the week, attendees will also take part in sessions to learn about college preparation, approaches to teamwork, professional development, and more.

CEAS Computer Science Program's annual summer camp opportunity:

The Summer Camp in Computer Science provides high school students with a fun yet thorough introduction to the exciting field of Computer Science.

This two week day camp runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and provides campers with the opportunity to develop their computer skills and work with and meet working computer scientists.

Campers will participate in various activities, ranging from lectures, hands-on projects, and presentations of industrial applications as well as research projects. Current graduate and/or undergraduate students will participate in these activities, making presentations of their own projects.

Most activities will take place in a College of Engineering and Applied Science computer laboratory and consist of the following:

  • All campers will choose a project to complete during the camp.
  • To test their understanding, campers will be required to write programs implementing the solutions to some simple problems. They will be introduced to the two most important concepts in programming: correctness and efficiency of an algorithm.
  • All resources necessary to complete this project, computers, software, and extensive help, will be provided by the camp organizers.
