Why study Biomedical Informatics?

Biomedical informatics (BMI) is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary field, which encompasses the development and implementation of informatics systems for the improved delivery of health care, as well as computational and analytical methods that advance biomedical research. In recent years, BMI has become an integral component of both clinical and translational research and health care infrastructure, increasing the demand for researchers and professionals who can take advantage of these concurrent innovations.

Admission Requirements

• GRE - Required of all international students; GRE is exempt for students that earned a degree from an ABET    accredited university (or equivalent   accreditation) in the USA with a GPA of 3.0+
• Transcript(s) and Degree Certificates
• GPA minimum 3.0 or equivalent
• Statement of Purpose
• Two letters of recommendation
• International students - English Proficiency Test: TOEFL (minimum 92) or IELTS (minimum 6.5)

BMICP will train graduate students in both quantitative and biomedical programs to develop and apply computational methods addressing current problems in biomedicine, and to design and implement clinical informatics systems. At the same time, the program will be designed to also enable training of clinicians and health professionals with advanced degrees who are interested in the integration of electronic health record (EHR) and related systems with clinical practice and research.
