Certificate Programs
Who Should Consider a Certificate Program?
- Professionals looking to shift into a new area within engineering
- Engineers who want to deepen expertise in a specific area
- Individuals interested in gaining targeted knowledge without pursuing a full degree
Planning to pursue a full undergraduate degree? If your ultimate goal is to earn a full degree, consider applying as a transfer student. Courses completed for a certificate will likely not apply toward a degree program.
Why Earn a Certificate?
- Strengthen your resume with recognized credentials
- Build on a previous degree or background
- Refresh or expand your technical knowledge
- Explore a new field before committing to a full program or job change
Undergraduate certificates are best for people who are currently in school or with a degree outside of engineering.

Graduate certificates are best for people with engineering undergraduate degrees, with a few exceptions.
Note: U.S. citizens and permanent residents can pursue graduate certificate programs without also pursuing a master’s or PhD degree. However, students on an F1 visa cannot pursue a graduate certificate without already being enrolled in a master’s or PhD program.
