Following the success of the inaugural Ohio-Region Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Research Day at The Ohio State University in 2025, the University of Cincinnati is proud to host the second annual event on July 24, 2026.

This regional event brings together undergraduate students in chemical engineering and related fields from across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana to:

  • Showcase undergraduate student research through oral and poster presentations
  • Build professional networks with peers, faculty, and graduate students
  • Develop presentation and communication skills
  • Learn about cutting-edge research at Ohio universities and graduate programs
  • Engage in informal discussions and mentorship opportunities

Who should attend?

This event is open to:

  • Undergraduate students in chemical engineering or related majors
  • Students interested in presenting research or exploring graduate opportunities
  • Participants from Ohio and neighboring states (KY, IN)

Registration

Join us for a day of research, learning, and connection with fellow chemical engineering students across the region. Register by June 30.

Present your research

Participants are encouraged to share their work through poster presentations or apply for an oral presentation. 

  • Registrants are welcome to apply for one of four oral presentation slots
  • 15-minute presentation slots
  • Abstract submission deadline: July 3, 2026
  • Selection notification: July 7, 2026
  • Selection criteria include:
    • Strength of conclusions
    • Clarity and conciseness
    • Diversity of research topics

Please register for the event before submitting your oral presentation abstract. After registering, you may submit your oral presentation abstract

All registrants will be signed up for a poster presentation with the information provided during registration. There is no need to register for a poster presentation separately. 

Poster guidelines:

  • Dimensions
    • Maximum size: 48” x 36”
  • Suggested poster components
    • Research project title and author information (including advisor and institution)
    • Background/motivation
    • Objectives
    • Methods
    • Results and discussion
    • Conclusions/summary
    • References and acknowledgements
    • Funding
  • Tips
    • Use your university’s poster template for consistent branding and colors
    • Ask your advisor or mentor for feedback or assistance
  • More guidance
  • Printing
    • Presenters are responsible for printing and bringing their posters. Most universities offer access to poster printers at a reasonable cost compared to commercial printers like FedEx, etc.

Helpful information

What should I wear?
Business-professional or business-casual attire is recommended for student attendees.

When should I arrive?
Plan to arrive between 10:00–10:15 a.m. Welcome and oral presentations will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m.

Can I reuse a poster I’ve already presented?
Yes, absolutely.

If I’m selected for an oral presentation, do I need to present a poster too?
No, but you are welcome to present both if you wish.

I missed the registration deadline! Can I still attend?
