Change of Major, Transition, and Readmission Criteria

The criteria on this page applies to: Change of Major (COM), Change of College (COC or Transition), and Readmission students. Students admitted into the First Year Engineering Program in Fall 2025 will use the 2025-2026 FEP criteria when reviewed. Students admitted into this program in Fall 2026 will use the transition criteria below.

Change of Major, Transition, and Readmission applicants can apply to CEAS programs during any academic semester.

*Rolling admissions: students who are not enrolled in classes that semester will be reviewed mid-semester if they’ve applied by this date

*We will continue to accept applications until the last day of classes. We will review late applications in our next open application term. 

Policies

Financial Implications

Changing Colleges or majors at the University of Cincinnati can impact scholarship and grant eligibility.  It is recommended that students contact Enrollment Services to learn more about possible financial implications. Enrollment Services is available by phone, email, and appointment.

When to apply

Submit your application once you are enrolled in the minimum courses (do not wait until your classes are complete). 

Guaranteed admission

You are guaranteed admission to CEAS majors if you meet the criteria below. CEAS reserves the right to consider academic misconduct and related circumstances as part of our application review process. 

Timeline to co-op/graduation

Your CEAS advisor will determine your transition schedule and timeline to co-op/graduation after you are accepted.

Visit the scholarship page to find out more about a scholarship for Pell eligible students transitioning to CEAS from the Blue Ash and Clermont campuses. 

2026-2027 Criteria

All applicants must be in Good Academic Standing per University Policy with an overall UC GPA of 2.0 or greater. See the charts below for specific requirements for each major.
