Graduate Degrees
We offer more than 35 graduate programs to continue your engineering education. This includes graduate-level certificates, online programs, and degrees including master of engineering (MEng), master of science (MS), and doctor of philosophy (PhD) options.
Master of Engineering (MEng)
The non-thesis MEng degree is designed for students seeking to efficiently expand their skills to make an impact in the technical workforce. The MEng offers students the same technical courses as our MS degrees, but with the addition of professional and leadership courses instead of research work.
The program is designed to have you job-ready in just one year, with two semesters of classes and another semester participating in an industry internship or a capstone project — you choose.
UC is ranked Top 5 for co-op and internships in the U.S. That means we already have hundreds of connections with companies locally, nationally, and around the world to assist with your internship search while you're a student — and your job search as a graduate.
The MEng program’s structure, especially the co-op internship, was a big draw for me, as it provided hands-on experience in a short-term, intensive format.

Master of Science (MS)
The MS degree appeals to students interested in research and greater depth in a particular engineering field. This degree culminates in a research experience and thesis, allowing students to go on to doctoral programs or occupations that require more specialized knowledge.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
We offer PhD degrees in each department. Some programs offer a PhD post-bachelor’s degree and some post-master’s degree. Refer to the department web sites for program, course and department-specific offerings.
