Why study Forensic Populations?

The certificate in forensic populations is a specialization within the UC School of Criminal Justice that provides deeper and more comprehensive understanding of specific types of offenders. Students obtaining the certificate in forensic populations can take courses focusing on drug offenders, women offenders, white collar offenders, gang-involved offenders, juvenile offenders, and mentally-disordered offenders. The two required courses will provide students with a theoretical framework for understanding criminal behavior and background in evidence-based interventions for these populations. This certificate is ideal for students majoring in criminal justice, psychology, or social work, or for any student wishing to gain a deeper understanding about forensic populations.
