Why study Horticulture?
The minor in horticulture introduces students to the various fields associated with horticultural science, including plant identification, growth, health, and reproduction.
Upon completion of the minor in Horticulture, students will be able to:
- Perform the fundamental practice and methods of horticultural science.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the roles of soil and nutrition in plant health.
- Demonstrate the basic knowledge and skills to identify favorable conditions for native and cultivated plants.
Admission Requirements
Students seeking admission to this minor must have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average in previous college work. To apply, students should submit the DAAP Undergraduate Application for Certificates and Minor online.
Students with interests in the environment, the natural world, science and ecology, and landscapes will excel in this minor program.
This minor will supplement the fundamental knowledge and skills offered by undergraduate training in:
- horticulture
- botany
- biology
- environmental studies
